• Kodiene

Deaundray Stowe, better known by his stage name Kodiene, is a southern rapper from Fayette AL. Kodiene is amidst several hardcore rappers who came out of hip-hop's Dirty South school in the late '00s. Not all Dirty South recordings are gangsta rap, but Kodiene has favored the thugged-out gangsta side of the Dirty South, and he gets his inspiration from both Southern and non-Southern rappers. Scarface and Notorious B.I.G are an influence; so are N.W.A., Dr. Dre, the late Tupac Shakur and many more. He’s a street rapper who makes hood tales with the potential to reach the masses. That’s right, Kodiene is one of the hottest rappers in the streets, with some of the highest quality street music ever heard. He is constantly on the road performing paid shows and he’s gotten more than 100K views on youtube. His street albums make serious noise without a major label. When Kodiene boasts that he “got it out the mud” he means the traps of Fayette Co., where he spent his childhood in the Fayette County housing projects. The street life is what inspired many of Kodiene's lyrics, which often describe the dangers of life in the 'hood. Kodiene, however, doesn't always rap about crime and the thug life; he also raps about sex quite a bit. After performing around Huntsville in the '90s, Kodiene started building a catalog in the early 2000s. His first solo album is yet to release but he has been on various mixtapes/compilations.
